These always remind me of miniature conkers when they are still inside the capsule. Many of the trees at Ferrymoor Flash are now covered in pollen dust. Saying that we did have a nice few minutes of heavy rain last night so hopefully that will have washed a lot off and also increased the water level in the lake.
I try not just to capture a subject as is by look for an unusual of secluded viewpoint. There is a specific place on the reserve which at the moment is rather overgrown with vegetation. This is where I took this shot earlier this week.
Perched on the flowers of Purple Loosestrife. Obviously found on this flower because they prefer damp areas and these flowers grow beside the lake. The wings are white with prominent greenish veins. They can also be found near ditches, river banks and ponds.
